  1. Thematic Areas Coverage and Achievements:
  • Health, Nutrition and Food-security: for ensuring the well-being and resilience of communities, emphasizing physical health, dietary nourishment, and sustainable access to food resources.
    • RYC has achieved notable milestones in promoting health awareness, including raising awareness among 8600 women on general health through IEC materials, educating 1867 students on cancer in 14 schools across 26 VDCs, organizing reproductive health camps in 8 districts benefiting 1825 women, and conducting targeted awareness programs for sex workers, rickshaw pullers, restaurant workers, barbers, and VDC officials on reproductive health, drug addiction, and HIV-AIDS. Additionally, the organization provided free health services to 962 individuals through camps, educated 500 parents in Mahottari, created awareness among 468 Dalit and Muslim women on family planning through a door-to-door campaign, facilitated data collection for vaccinations, conducted cervical and breast cancer screening benefiting 9254 women, raised awareness among 4050 individuals in 22 VDCs on dysentery, adolescent education, and care for pregnant women, administered HPV vaccination to 2510 school girls, trained 6254 girls in reproductive health and child rights, and enhanced education awareness for 500 women through a radio program called “Knowledge is Power,” showcasing a comprehensive commitment to health education and community well-being.
  • WASH: encompassing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, focuses on ensuring access to clean water, proper sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices to promote public health and well-being in communities.
    • Under this theme RYC has successful implementation of comprehensive campaigns and initiatives in Mahottari, Sarlahi and Dhanusha districts, including achieving Open Defecation Free (ODF) targets in 28 VDCs, formation and mobilization of child clubs in 89 schools, establishment of matching funds at 50 schools to enhance WASH behavior, promotion of handwashing practices in 89 schools, formation of Village WASH Coordination Committees (V-WASH-CCs) in 66 VDCs and Municipal WASH Coordination Committees (M-WASH-CCs) in 3 Municipalities, coordination with media through J-WASH-CC, and strategic planning with the development of District-level BCC Strategy Plan and WASH Plans for 28 VDCs. Additionally, the facilitation in the construction of 15,336 household toilets and the successful declaration of 6 VDCs and 1 Municipality (Bardibas) as ODF demonstrate significant progress toward achieving total sanitation in the region.

  • Under this theme RYC has benefiting more than 5000 students in 12 schools at Jaleshwar Municipality, providing sanitation and educational support materials, enrolling over 1800 students in the Sponsorship Program, renovating 13 schools affected by the 2017 flood in Mahottari, distributing essential materials to 3 resource schools, facilitating knowledge on climate change for 329 students, conducting life skill sessions in 50 schools, and contributing to literacy by educating illiterate women and girls, facilitating birth certificates for 304 children, and providing scholarships to 420 girls and 40 boys, demonstrating a comprehensive commitment to enhancing education and empowerment in the Mahottari and Dhanusha districts.
  • Livelihood and Economic growth: to empower communities by promoting sustainable IG activities and fostering economic resilience to enhance overall well-being and reduce poverty.
    • RYC has demonstrated significant success in promoting economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods in Mahottari district through various initiatives, including facilitating Women Income Generation Activities (IGAs) for 152 VEED groups with 4616 members, distributing grants in 72 VEED groups for 79 agro-based and non-agro-based businesses, and providing resources for diverse ventures such as vegetable farming, cattle and goat rearing, rickshaws, and various small businesses. The organization has also focused on technology transfer, forming savings and credit groups among Dalits, distributing goats for income generation, supporting business plans for entrepreneurs, and providing training for kitchen gardening and skill development to members.
  • Reducing inequalities: Good Governance (Social justice), GESI (Women Empowerment) and Disability (ensuring inclusivity) to create a more equitable and diverse society.

  • Under this theme, RYC achieved significant strides in community empowerment and social justice, including providing 3 months of stitching and knitting training to 50 women, conducting human rights training for officials in 5 VDCs, raising awareness on untouchability in 2 VDCs, offering income generation training to 6125 participants in 45 VDCs, providing livestock training for 150 farmers, and organizing diverse trainings on gender, savings & credit, human rights, institutional development, and natural disaster management for over 250 women and children. Additionally, the establishment of Mahila Adhikar Manch and Bhumi Adhikar Manch in 45 VDCs, along with the formation of 35 child marriage eradication committees and related initiatives, such as the creation of 207 peer educators and 35 School-based anti-gender-based violence forums, showcase a comprehensive approach to tackling social issues and promoting gender equality, while the provision of scholarships to 92 girls at risk of child marriage underscores the organization’s commitment to addressing critical challenges and fostering positive change in the community.

  • RYC has made significant strides in disaster response and relief efforts, particularly focusing on flood-affected areas in Mahottari and Dhanusha districts. Achievements include conducting a comprehensive survey and situation analysis of flood victims in 15 VDCs, providing crucial support to flood-affected households with food and non-food items, forming community groups for disaster preparedness and relief, distributing essential food items, enhancing awareness for flood preparedness, and reconstructing houses and concrete shelters for affected communities. Infrastructure development projects such as the renovation of hand pipes, construction of culverts, concrete drainage, and river embankments, along with agro-forestry plantation and maintenance of irrigation channels, highlight the organization’s commitment to long-term resilience and sustainable development in flood-prone areas. Health initiatives, including health camps, distribution of health kits, soap, and water guards, have also been instrumental in addressing the immediate health needs of affected populations.
  • Infrastructure construction and renovation: to enhance community development by building and restoring essential facilities for sustainable growth and improving the overall quality of life.
    • RYC has achieved substantial success in water and sanitation initiatives, focusing on improving access to clean water, promoting hygiene, and enhancing agricultural irrigation in Mahottari and Dhanusha districts. Achievements include the installation of 1030 hand pipes, construction of 26 artesian tube wells, and the establishment of an overhead tank with 31 public tap stands. Additionally, the organization has constructed 4896 family toilets, implemented sanitation facilities in 14 schools and public toilets in two VDCs, and dug 59 wells in Kishannagar and Digambarpur VDCs.
