Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project

Government of Nepal created the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Fund Development Board, on 14th March 1996 to promote sustainable and cost effective demand-led rural water supply and sanitation services in facilitation of Non-governmental Organizations with full emphasis on community ownership in conformity with the Government’s Plan. Which aimed at fundamental changes in rural water supply and sanitation service delivery mechanism in the country? Ratauli Yuwa Club Mohatari started to work in collaboration with fund board from 2073/02/28. Till now RYC has worked in eight different Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project in Rural area of Mohatari District.

Objectives

• To improve access to safe Drinking water & sanitation facilities by extending WASH service & technologies. So, that health status of people will improve through behaviour change in sanitation & hygiene practices.
• Increase sustainable access to improved water services and promote improved sanitation and hygiene practices in rural areas.
• Institutional strengthening & Capacity building to promote the long term sustainability of schemes.
• To contribute in poverty alleviation through sustainable livelihoods initiatives.
• Empowerment & improve the economic condition of women groups.
